We are looking to grow out trustee team and plan for succession at Abbeyfield House in Reigate. As a small charity serving our local community having our trustees living or working relatively close by is a key requirement.
What difference will you make?
Each trustee brings their life experiences to the debates and discussion we have at trustee meetings and everyone's input is valued.
Later this year, the Abbeyfield Reigate Society celebrates 55 years since the charity was first created. This will be an impetus to debate our organisational vision and longer term plan - all our trustees will play a key role inputting to that vision.

What are we looking for?
- Business or charity management experience which a candidate can use to input to and guide decision making.
- Good, independent judgement, and an ability to think creatively.
- An ability to work effectively as a team, taking on board the recommendations from externally appointed experts, but contributing an independent perspective.
- Some team leadership experience will be beneficial but not essential.
- The ability to commit circa 5 hours per month for trustee meetings and ad hoc discussions.
- An understanding of legal duties of charities and trustees - training courses are available to broaden a candidate's knowledge.

What will you be doing?
Trustees at Abbeyfield Reigate guide the future development of the home to ensure that facilities for our 10 residents are continuously improved, and also the services we provide evolve to meet their changing needs.
The trustee team works closely with the small team of employees to support and guide them when challenges arise.
