The Advocacy Project Vision

The Advocacy Project vision is clear: everyone should have a voice.

About Us

We work tirelessly to ensure that those who are often unheard or whose wishes are dismissed are heard and their rights upheld. Our work is embedded in the communities we serve and we work with those with learning disabilities, poor mental health, autism, and other barriers including lack of capacity and old age.

We believe passionately that everyone should have equal outcomes when accessing health and social care services, and we all live our values every day, showing up with kindness, strength, honesty, and belief in the work we do.

Lived experience plays a key role in the governance of our organisation with dedicated lived experience Trustees and a service user council to help shape our strategy, services, and policies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Difference Will You Make?

As a Trustee, you will be able to directly impact our work by supporting us to raise more income and find a sustainable model to ensure we can reach more people across London.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Experience in Business Development/income generation and/or fundraising, ideally at a senior level.
  • Previous experience of working with a board or being a Trustee would be great but not essential.
  • Lived experience of mental health or learning disability services as a family/carer or user is always a positive but again not essential.
  • A commitment to our values: we are kind, we are honest, we are strong, and we believe.
  • A commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equality is critical.

What Will You Be Doing?

We are in the second year of our new strategy, and key to our success is developing a sustainable business model that moves us from a reliance on statutory income to a mixed portfolio of funding, including trusts and foundations and paid-for services. Working with a diverse and passionate board, you will chair the Business Development committee and provide expertise, support, and challenge to our Senior Leadership Team, including our recently appointed Head of Business Development.
