Become A Trustee | Survive, York

If you are passionate about survivors of sexual trauma having access to our safe spaces and kind, caring and compassionate services that help adult survivors heal, rebuild and thrive, we want to hear from you!

Our trustees play a pivotal role in ensuring Survive delivers its mission and charitable objectives and in shaping the future direction of our charity. They oversee the leadership, management and administration of Survive and have collective responsibility for governance, compliance and risk. They make a difference by giving their time and sharing their skills, life experience and expertise in a meaningful way to ensure the charity can continue to deliver its life-changing and life-saving services.

We’re especially interested in hearing from people experienced in charity governance, fundraising, finance, and business transformation.

You will help shape the future of Survive by:

  • Living Survive values
  • Setting the strategic direction of the charity
  • Overseeing performance against our strategic objectives and identified KPIs, ensuring we deliver impact and remain accountable to our stakeholders
  • Overseeing financial plans, policies and procedures
  • Ensuring Survive complies with our Articles of Association, all legal, financial and regulatory compliance including those of our membership bodies (BACP, The Survivors’ Trust, Helplines Partnership)
  • Assessing risk and providing support and guidance to the senior management team
  • Supporting and constructively challenging the charity’s senior management team to enable Survive (and them) to grow and thrive
  • Maintaining the highest standards of leadership and decision making, taking collective responsibility as a group and not as individuals and putting Survive (and its service-users) interests first.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
