Responsibilities
The role of the Trustee with DSUK is to ensure that the activities of the charity support its purpose and serve the interests of its beneficiaries. Trustees provide strategic guidance, governance and oversight of management, ensuring the organisation is accountable and acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the CEO. Trustees are there to protect the charity’s assets both physical and reputational. They make sure resources are managed responsibly and that the charity is run sustainably.
Currently an active board of 11, we are forward planning for routine board member rotation in the coming year. To complement our existing board and support our strategic direction, we are looking for a new trustee with legal experience to replace an outgoing trustee. This is a trustee role, not a role as DSUK’s legal adviser.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
