Manor Multi Academy Trust is an established education trust in the West Midlands, originating from the successful school improvement work led by Manor Primary School in Wolverhampton and now comprising multiple schools. The Trust is driven by a vision that every child attends a “Great School,” where pupils are nurtured, inspired, and provided with the highest quality education. Each academy is central to its local community, with the freedom to respond to the needs of parents and children while celebrating diversity and individuality.

The Trustee role at Manor Multi Academy Trust is a volunteer position based in the West Midlands. Trustees provide strategic leadership and oversight, helping to shape the Trust’s vision, values, and long-term direction while ensuring that all academies deliver high-quality education. Typical responsibilities include:
- Attending board and committee meetings
- Reviewing performance data and reports
- Contributing to decisions on finance, risk, staffing, and school improvement
- Supporting and challenging senior leaders
- Ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Upholding the highest standards of governance, integrity, and transparency
- Acting as ambassadors for the Trust, engaging with stakeholders and promoting the interests of pupils, staff, and local communities
Ideal Skills
- Strategic governance and leadership skills, including experience with boards, committees, or senior decision-making roles would be ideal.
- Financial literacy and risk management skills, such as understanding budgets, audit processes, and long-term planning.
- Knowledge of education, safeguarding, or public sector frameworks, or strong willingness to develop this understanding.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and supportively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including evaluating data, policies, and performance information.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, and the Trust’s values of integrity, transparency, and excellence.
- Capacity to attend regular on-site meetings in the West Midlands and dedicate time for preparation and follow-up.
- Previous experience in education, community leadership, legal, HR, or business management is beneficial but not essential.
