BABY-I Trustee Secretary
BABY-I is a UK non-profit preventing infant abandonment through compassion, support, and community action. We are seeking a dedicated Trustee Secretary to join our founding board, help us build strong governance foundations, and prepare for charitable registration.
What difference will you make?
As Trustee Secretary, you will be the organisational backbone of our board, ensuring meetings run smoothly, records are maintained accurately, and governance standards meet Charity Commission expectations. Your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the organisation's operations to ensure we meet our mission and goals
- Approving operational strategies, policies, and monitoring their implementation
- Overseeing financial plans and budgets, and evaluating progress
- Ensuring key risks are identified, monitored, and controlled effectively
- Supporting and challenging the CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority
- Contributing to reviews of BABY-I's governance and promoting our reputation

Essential Skills And Qualities
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills
- Experience in a governance, administrative, or secretarial role
- Understanding of UK charity sector and Charity Commission guidance

Role Details
- Board meetings 3–5 per year (currently held remotely via video call)
- Flexible monthly commitment 5, 10, 15, or 20 hours — you choose what fits your schedule
- Term of commitment 1 year, renewable for a maximum of 2 years
Additional involvement may include scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, and providing advice on new initiatives. This role is designed to be flexible. Whether you can give a little or a lot, every hour makes a difference.

We are a non-registered organisation operating in accordance with Charity Commission guidance and UK charity law as best practice, actively preparing for future charitable registration. As a small, mission-driven organisation, our trustees are hands-on, collaborative, and deeply committed to making a tangible difference.
