We don’t need someone to “do the socials”. We need someone who knows what makes people stop scrolling, start engaging and join a community. You’ll shape our social strategy, lead creative campaigns, spot opportunities and support our brilliant social media volunteers.
What difference will you make?
We're looking for an enthusiastic and creative Head of Social Media to join our Board of Trustees and help shape how The Greener Earth Project shows up online.
Social media plays an important part in growing awareness of our work, building a community around our mission, connecting with businesses, supporters and volunteers. You’ll take the lead on our social media strategy and creative direction, helping us build a distinctive presence that people genuinely want to engage with.
What are we looking for?
- Experience developing and delivering social media strategies, with a good understanding of how to build a distinctive and consistent presence across different platforms.
- Strong creative judgement, with the ability to shape engaging content and provide clear creative direction.
- Confidence using social media data and insights to understand performance and continually improve content and campaigns.
- Experience planning and delivering organic and paid social media campaigns, including targeted advertising.
- A good understanding of online community building, audience growth and engagement.
- An awareness of emerging social media trends, creators and collaboration opportunities, with the ability to identify those that are relevant to the organisation.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on, practical approach to social media.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Social media is becoming increasingly important to that growth. We want to build a bigger, more engaged community around our mission, reach new business supporters and volunteers, and make sure the impact of our work is seen by more people.
As our Trustee (Head of Social Media), you’ll lead this area at Board level, shaping our social media strategy and creative direction and ensuring it supports our wider organisational goals. You’ll also lead and support our team of social media volunteers, giving them the direction and confidence to experiment, create great content and bring new ideas to the table.
You’ll oversee our organic and paid activity, use insights to help us understand what’s working, and identify the trends, conversations and collaborations worth getting involved in.
It’s an opportunity to take real ownership of how a growing environmental organisation shows up online, turning social media into a powerful tool for growing the community behind our mission.
