Summary Of STAND And The Role

STAND is an international development charity working across sub Saharan Africa to support people with limb loss through access to prosthetic legs, peer support, and sustainable, locally led services. As STAND continues to scale up it’s work in The Gambia and East Africa, this is an opportunity to help shape a growing organisation at an important moment in its development.

This is a thoughtful and influential role within STAND. The Treasurer plays an important part in helping the organisation remain financially resilient, well governed, and able to grow with care and intention. Working alongside the Board and Executive Team, the Treasurer brings financial insight, sound judgement, and curiosity into conversations about strategy, sustainability, and impact.

STAND does not have a CFO or full time finance manager. Alongside their non executive trustee role, the Treasurer provides light touch executive oversight of financial reporting, working closely with the Director and supervising a part time accountant who manages bookkeeping through to management accounts. This is a supported role, designed to be manageable alongside other professional and personal commitments.

What The Role Involves

  • Helping steward STAND’s financial health, resilience, and good governance.
  • Working with the Director and part time accountant to oversee budgets, management accounts, and annual financial statements, and presenting these clearly to the Board.
  • Chairing the Finance Committee and supporting proportionate, effective financial oversight.
  • Advising the Board and Executive Team on the financial implications of strategy, growth, and changing circumstances.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for audits and major financial matters, including presenting the audited accounts at the Annual General Meeting.
  • Supporting fellow Trustees in feeling confident with their shared financial responsibilities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
