Job Description: Trustee of Harrogate District Swimming Club CIO

About Harrogate District Swimming Club CIO:
Harrogate District Swimming Club CIO is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation dedicated to promoting swimming, fostering talent, and creating a supportive environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Our aim is to enhance the wellbeing and performance of our members while promoting the sport within the local community.
Role Overview:
As a Trustee of Harrogate District Swimming Club, you will play a vital role in the strategic direction and governance of the club. You will collaborate with fellow trustees, volunteers, coaches and stakeholders to ensure the club operates effectively, meets its objectives, and maintains a strong community presence.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the club's strategic plan.
- Ensure the club fulfils its objectives and upholds its values.
Governance:
- Oversee the club’s compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that the club operates in an ethical and transparent manner.
- Review and approve key policies, procedures, and financial statements.

Financial Oversight:
- Monitor the club’s financial health and ensure the effective management of resources.
- Support fundraising efforts and contribute to the development of financial sustainability.
Community Engagement:
- Act as an ambassador for the club and promote its activities within the community.
- Engage with members, parents, and volunteers to foster a positive and inclusive environment.
Support and Develop Volunteer Management Team:
- Provide guidance and support to the club's volunteer management team.
- Assist in the recruitment and development of volunteers.
Continuous Improvement:
- Encourage and facilitate feedback from club members and stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities for growth and development within the club.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A genuine passion for swimming and community sports.
- Experience in governance, management, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to think strategically and work as part of a team.
- Financial literacy and understanding of budgeting processes.
- Previous experience as a trustee or on a committee is an advantage but not essential.

Commitment:
Trustees are expected to attend regular meetings (typically monthly) and participate in occasional events and fundraising activities. The estimated time commitment is approximately 6-8 hours per month.
