RSPCA-Kent Isle of Thanet Trustee Recruitment
RSPCA-Kent Isle of Thanet is a local branch of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, focused on improving the welfare of animals in the Isle of Thanet area and surrounding communities. Our Trustees play a key role in guiding the branch’s priorities and ensuring that resources are used responsibly and effectively and we are seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join us. This is a voluntary but rewarding position to help guide and shape the future of our wonderful charity with animal welfare at its heart. Our staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure the animals in our care receive the levels of health care, socialisation, freedom and stimulation they need to be successfully rehomed.
About the Role
We are looking to recruit 3-5 Trustees, and would love to hear from individuals who have particular skills or experience in Retail, Fundraising, Finance, Governance, Event Management, People and HR etc. We will also be seeking a new Chair and Treasurer so if you are interested in these particular roles please do make it known during your application.
You do not need to have previous experience as a Trustee. We welcome applications from people who are committed to animal welfare and are keen to use their professional skills, knowledge and experience to make a positive contribution to the Branch and the local community.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

As a small charity, there will be times when Trustees need to be actively involved beyond Board meetings. This may include scrutinising Board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, supporting fundraising activities, representing the Branch externally, or assisting with other matters where a Trustee has particular skills or expertise.
