Trustees
Trustees are a vital part of AITY’s infrastructure & are ultimately responsible for governance. Responsibility to ensure that AITY fulfils its charitable purposes, complies with legal and regulatory requirements, manages resources responsibly & delivers benefit.
What difference will you make?
As a Trustee of Arts In The Yard, you will play an important role in helping a small, community-based charity continue to grow, develop and make a positive difference across East Birmingham and Solihull.
Our Trustees provide strategic oversight, support and constructive challenge, helping us make good decisions, remain financially sustainable and ensure that our work stays focused on the needs of the communities we serve.
Your experience, ideas and perspective will help shape our future direction and strengthen our organisation as we develop our programmes, partnerships and funding. You will work alongside fellow Trustees and our CEO, contributing to discussions about our priorities, opportunities and challenges.

What are we looking for?
You don’t need to tick every box—just one is enough! We welcome all backgrounds and experiences, including
- People who are passionate about inclusion, social impact, and advocacy
- Individuals with knowledge or interest in the Birmingham/West Midlands arts scene
- People with financial or business experience
- Experienced charity trustees looking to support a new cause
- Residents who reflect the diverse demographics of East Birmingham and Solihull
- Young people (aged 18–25) eager to gain leadership and governance experience

Hybrid
What will you be doing?
Trustees attend up to 6 meetings per year but are welcome to contribute more to the organisation. In the next year we want to update our Theory of Change and ensure the charity is meeting the needs and aspirations of local residents.
Our mission is to work alongside residents and partners to help create neighbourhoods that are inclusive, vibrant and welcoming. Through arts, culture, heritage, wellbeing activities and community partnerships, we create opportunities for people to connect, participate, develop confidence and play an active role in their communities.
