HELP SHAPE THE GOVERNANCE AND FUTURE OF WASSOR UK
WASSOR Womanity is seeking Trustees to help establish strong, independent and accountable governance for WASSOR UK and contribute to the wider WASSOR mission.
WASSOR works across women’s and children’s rights, community mental health, safeguarding, youth wellbeing, women’s economic and social empowerment, research and community-led approaches. As WASSOR develops, we want to bring together a Board with complementary expertise, different perspectives and the confidence to provide both support and constructive challenge.

- Oversee organisational risk and financial stewardship
- Help ensure WASSOR UK remains focused on its purpose and the communities it seeks to serve
- Contribute professional, community and/or lived expertise to Board discussions
- Act collectively with other Trustees in the best interests of WASSOR UK
- Support the organisation’s development, partnerships and long-term sustainability where appropriate
- Help ensure that WASSOR’s values remain reflected in how the organisation grows and operates

- Finance, accounting or audit
- Fundraising and resource mobilisation
- Safeguarding and child protection
- Communications, marketing or public engagement

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This list is not exhaustive. We are interested in what you could bring to the Board.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
You do not need to have been a Trustee before. Previous Board or governance experience is welcome, but we also encourage applications from people who would bring valuable professional expertise, community knowledge or lived experience to their first Trustee role.
We are looking for people who can:
- Think strategically and exercise independent judgement
- Engage constructively with different perspectives
- Ask thoughtful — and sometimes difficult — questions
- Work collaboratively and respectfully with others
- Listen as well as contribute
- Understand the importance of accountability, confidentiality and declaring conflicts of interest
- Commit sufficient time to prepare for and participate actively in Board meetings and related work
- Uphold WASSOR’s commitment to safeguarding, human dignity, fairness and respect
- Share WASSOR’s commitment to community-led and culturally grounded approaches
We particularly value Trustees who recognise that good governance involves constructive challenge as well as support.
HUMAN VALUE
At WASSOR, we value people for the knowledge, experience, perspective and humanity they bring. We recognise that valuable expertise can come from professional practice, community experience, lived experience, education, culture and many different life journeys. We are interested not only in titles or credentials, but in how people think, listen, contribute and work with others. We want a Board whose members bring different perspectives, are willing to learn from one another and remain grounded in the realities of the communities WASSOR serves. Human value, dignity, respect and collective responsibility are central to how we want to govern WASSOR.

COMMITMENT
Trustees will be expected to participate regularly in Board meetings, prepare by reading relevant papers in advance and contribute to Board responsibilities between meetings where necessary. The role will primarily operate remotely, although opportunities for in-person meetings or activities may arise. Applicants should consider whether they can make a meaningful and consistent contribution rather than simply adding another Board position to their CV.
APPOINTMENT PROCESS
Applications will be reviewed against the skills, experience and perspectives currently needed across the Board. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a structured conversation with WASSOR. Successful candidates will then undergo appropriate references, eligibility checks and governance due diligence before appointment.
A CV is optional.
