What difference will you make?
Our current legal trustee will leave us at the end of his three-year term, and we are seeking a timely handover period. The demand for our services and the challenges we face are continually increasing. To continue to meet this demand & to deliver new ambitious projects we need to raise our existing profile, progress new CSR agreements and reach a wider digital supporter base. The new trustee will ideally bring a wealth of experience where our existing skills are limited, enabling Tigers4Ever to grow to meet its current challenges & future demands.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for individuals to guide the charity through the next 3 years of growth & development.
It is important that applicants have the time, enthusiasm and commitment to help Tigers4Ever to achieve its charitable objectives. We're looking for individuals who can commit to a minimum term of 3 years with an option for 2 further 3 year terms (subject to agreement on both sides) and a maximum of 9 years (i.e. 3 terms of 3 years). This vacancy is for a person with the following skills and expertise.
Legal skills
- Experience of Law & Legal Requirements relating to fundraising activities/Grant Applications
- Some experience of international law would be helpful but is not essential
- Experience of Corporate Social Responsibility Partnerships/Collaborations
- Legacies

We're looking to appoint a new trustee to enhance the skill profile of our current Board of Trustees/bring fresh perspectives to our future development which includes fundraising in the USA & possibly in India. Tigers4Ever, like many other small charities, has faced new difficulties brought about by cost-of-living challenges in our supporter geographies; our Board has had to act quickly to meet increased demand for our services at a time when fundraising is particularly challenging. Our existing Policies, Good Governance & Risk Management procedures have enabled us to adapt to the new challenges we face. This is an exciting opportunity to join a successful small charity & contribute to its future growth, success & strategic direction.
As a Tigers4Ever Trustee, you will be involved in ensuring that we comply with our legislative obligations & pursue our objectives; you will also play a key role in developing the future strategy of the charity, specifically helping to decide how best to allocate our resources to ensure the aims of the charity are achieved & a real public benefit is realised in wild tiger conservation.
As Tigers4Ever is a charitable trust, so you must be over 18 to be a trustee.

What will you be doing?
Tigers4Ever is an established charity which aims to give wild tigers wild futures. Our specific current focus is in Madhya Pradesh, India. We have 14 Trustees 7 female and 7 male, with strong governance, finance, project management, business, HR, fundraising, and media & marketing skills. We have diverse backgrounds/interests including roles with other charities & other Governance roles. Our Chair has an unerring passion for wild tigers.
Our community-focused projects encourage those living with wild tigers to protect them, ensuring that tigers have wild futures. We achieve our objectives by providing:

- Anti-Poaching Patrols
- Reduction of human-animal conflict
- Provision of vital equipment for Forest Dept patrols, enabling them to protect wild tigers
- Providing Educational resources so that children from the poorest rural communities have access to education/improved employment prospects
Our 1st-of-its-kind “Buffer Zone Poaching Patrol,” established in July 2015 in Bandhavgarh, has resulted in a 98.5% reduction in wild tiger deaths from poaching/poisoning over 66 months. The Buffer Forests around India’s tiger reserves account for ~95% of all wild tiger deaths due to poaching/poisoning annually. Historically, Buffer forests were not patrolled. Wire snares, jaw traps & tethered snares are the preferred tools of tiger poachers. Our Patrols search the buffer forests for poachers' traps, hoping to disarm them before tigers/leopards & other animals fall prey. Patrols in the buffer forest act as a deterrent to would-be poachers who fear capture if their traps are discovered. Our Patrols also assist with the early identification of/quenching forest fires, which are common in the dry season. Such actions save the lives of many forest dwellers, not just wild tigers.
Our major environmental projects involve developing permanent wildlife waterholes for year-round use where water is scarce from Feb to July, and restoring habitat. These waterholes offer stability to the prey base & help reduce human-tiger conflict.
Our Board of Trustees meets 4-5 times per year for approx. 3.5 hours. Sub-committees are established for specific projects/fundraiser planning, as needed. We welcome Trustee involvement with the organisation of/participation in our fundraising events.
