GoHealth Chair and Trustee Opportunities
We are looking for a new Chair and several Trustees to help lead a growing movement for health, healing and flourishing.
What if the Christian faith could help create healthier, more connected and more flourishing people and communities? At GoHealth, we believe it can. For more than 120 years, the Guild of Health and St Raphael has explored the relationship between Christian faith, health and healing. Today, we are building on that heritage in new ways – bringing faith, science and community into conversation and helping people and churches become healing presences in everyday life. We are now looking for several new Trustees to help us shape what comes next.
A New Chapter for GoHealth
GoHealth is evolving. We are becoming more than a traditional membership organisation. We are growing a wider community and movement of people who are learning, connecting and finding practical ways to bring healing, hope and flourishing into the world.
Our work now spans community, training, courses, resources, podcasts, partnerships and conversations across the Church, health, charity and academic sectors.
Our Vision
Flourishing communities made up of flourishing individuals.
We want to see people growing in health and wholeness; communities where people experience belonging, dignity and care; and leaders and organisations creating conditions in which others can flourish.
This is an exciting moment – but we want to grow wisely. As a small and committed team, we are thinking carefully about how we build our capacity, strengthen our networks and partnerships, increase our reach and impact, and develop sustainable ways of supporting this work into the future. We are looking for Trustees who can help us navigate that next chapter with wisdom, imagination and courage.
We Are Also Looking for Our Next Chair
As part of this next chapter, we are looking for an experienced and collaborative Chair to help lead GoHealth’s Board and work closely with the Chief Executive and staff team.
This is an important role at an important moment. Our next Chair will help the Board hold together mission, governance and growth, ensuring that GoHealth remains rooted in its Christian calling and values while having the courage and imagination to develop what comes next.
We are looking for someone who can:
- Provide thoughtful, confident and values-led leadership to the Board
- Work in partnership with the Chief Executive, offering both encouragement and appropriate challenge
- Help the Board think strategically about GoHealth’s future
- Bring wisdom and perspective as we navigate growth and change
- Build strong relationships across the Church, health, charity and wider sectors
- Help create a Board culture that is curious, collaborative, generous and willing to ask difficult questions
- Act as an ambassador for GoHealth, opening doors and helping others understand the distinctive contribution we can make.
You do not need to have been a Chair before, although significant Board or senior leadership experience will be important. What matters most is the ability to bring people together around a shared purpose, ask the right questions, hold a clear sense of direction and create the conditions in which others can contribute their best.
Our Chair will be someone who is excited not simply by the responsibility of governance, but by the possibility of what GoHealth could become.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What Makes GoHealth Different?
Faith
We are rooted in the Christian healing tradition and believe Christian theology and spirituality have something important to contribute to conversations about health, healing and human flourishing.
Science
We are curious, evidence-informed and committed to learning from contemporary science, healthcare and research, including perspectives that challenge or expand our thinking.
Community
We believe we were never meant to heal alone. Health and flourishing are deeply connected to relationships, belonging, participation and the communities in which we live.
We bring these three dimensions together to create spaces where people can learn, pray, think, connect and grow, and discover how they can participate in healing in their own lives, churches and communities.
We call the way we seek to do this the GoHealth Way.
Why Become a GoHealth Trustee?
Being a GoHealth Trustee is an opportunity to contribute to something with a long history and a growing sense of possibility.
Our Trustees help hold the purpose, values and long-term vision of GoHealth. They provide good governance and responsible stewardship, ask wise and sometimes difficult questions, bring different perspectives and experience, open relationships and possibilities, and help us discern where our particular contribution can make the greatest difference.
We are looking for people who can hold vision and stewardship, courage and wisdom, continuity and change together.
Growth for GoHealth is not simply about becoming bigger. It is about increasing our capacity to create healing, hope and belonging without losing the distinctive culture, values and calling at the heart of our work.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are recruiting both a new Chair and several Trustees to strengthen our Board as GoHealth enters this next chapter. We are particularly looking for people who are:
- Committed Christians who can engage thoughtfully with GoHealth’s theological vision and its place within the wider Church.
- Passionate about health, healing and human flourishing, and the contribution Christian communities can make to a healthier society.
- Strategic and curious, able to see the bigger picture, ask good questions and exercise sound judgement.
- Movement-makers, who enjoy building connections, opening doors, growing networks and helping good ideas travel.
- Collaborative and generous, bringing their experience while working constructively with fellow Trustees and the staff team.
- Comfortable with growth and change, able to embrace opportunity while helping GoHealth grow wisely and sustainably.
- Committed to good governance, stewardship and the responsibilities of charity trusteeship.
You don’t need to bring all of these things. We are building a Board whose gifts, experience and perspectives complement one another.
The Experience We Particularly Need
As GoHealth grows, we are especially keen to strengthen our Board in four areas:
- For the Chair, we’re particularly interested in senior leadership, Board experience, strategic thinking, relationship-building and the ability to lead collaboratively.
- For Trustees, we’re particularly interested in the four areas already identified: organisational growth, health/medicine, fundraising and a younger perspective.

Health and Medicine
Professional experience in medicine, healthcare or a closely related field, ideally with particular expertise in mental health.
Fundraising and Income Generation
Experience in fundraising, philanthropy, trusts and foundations, major donors, strategic partnerships or wider income generation — particularly someone able to think about fundraising as part of long-term organisational sustainability.
A Younger Perspective
We would particularly welcome interest from a younger Christian who can bring insight into the experiences, questions and culture of emerging generations.
Previous Trustee experience is not essential. We are interested in potential, curiosity, wisdom and a willingness to learn as much as an established CV.
