Our students face significant barriers to education, employment, and independent living. Through specialist teaching, personalised support, and strong employer partnerships, we help them develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed to thrive in adulthood.
As a trustee, your expertise will directly influence the strategic decisions that shape our future. Whether your background is in HR, employment law, education, health & safety, or finance, you will help ensure the college remains sustainable, compliant, innovative, and focused on delivering exceptional outcomes for students.

What Are We Looking For?
We are seeking a trustee who shares our commitment to improving the lives of young people with special educational needs and disabilities and who can bring strategic insight, sound judgment, and a willingness to provide both support and challenge.
We welcome applications from individuals with senior leadership, governance, public sector, education, business, finance, legal, HR, property, safeguarding, health, or community sector experience. Previous trustee experience is beneficial but not essential. We are particularly interested in people who can contribute specialist expertise while maintaining a strategic focus on the long-term success of the college.
The successful trustee will be able to:

As HBVC continues to grow and develop, we are looking for trustees who can help us navigate opportunities and challenges, strengthen governance, and ensure we remain ambitious for our learners. Depending on experience, trustees may serve on a committee and could contribute to future succession planning for committee chair roles.

What Will You Be Doing?
Our current board brings together professionals with expertise in governance, education, business, and SEND. As HBVC continues to grow, key priorities include strengthening financial sustainability, governance, compliance, safeguarding, and organisational development. We are seeking trustees with expertise in HR, employment law, finance, education, or health & safety who can contribute to committee work and strategic decision-making.
