Darlington Mind is an established mental health charity which supports over 2000 Adults and Children and Young People each year. We help improve lives through supporting better health and wellbeing including emotional resilience, recovery from trauma, enabling clients to set and work towards their life goals, and building of self esteem and confidence. We do this through counselling, training, provision of housing, one to one support, personal development, groups and activities including exercise, learning, development of life skills and fostering social connection. Demand for our support continues to grow as more people experience significant life challenges.

We employ 40 staff and work with 25 volunteers who work passionately to make a real difference to people’s lives, often for clients going through the most difficult time of their lives. Our Board of Trustees includes a multi-faceted team drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds, experience and skills, but we are now looking to expand this team, to meet the needs of the organisation going forward.

We’re looking for up to three new trustees to join our Board in the coming months. Our Board of Trustees sets our long-term direction, ensures our resources are used effectively and helps us maximise our impact. Trustees also play an important role in upholding our vision and values. We welcome applications from people who are caring, committed and motivated to help us achieve our mission.

We are specifically seeking applications from people with lived experience of mental health issues and/or from young adults to help ensure the Board maintains a true perspective on the needs of the people we exist to serve. We are also seeking people with enhanced digital skills and someone with professional mental health clinical skills to help advise the Board and senior management.
