BC Financial Search Opportunity
BC Financial Search is working with a well-established independent accountancy practice in the North West that is looking to make a key appointment within its growing Trusts & Estates team.
The firm has recently appointed an experienced Trusts Partner to lead and further develop the service line and is now looking to bring another experienced Trust professional into the team. There is considerable flexibility around level. The firm would consider someone from Manager through to Senior Manager or Associate Director, with the responsibilities and package tailored accordingly.
The successful individual can be based from Liverpool, Chester or Widnes, depending on preference, alongside a hybrid working arrangement of three days in the office and two days working from home.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to join an established accountancy practice at an exciting stage in the development of its Trusts offering, with the opportunity to work closely with the Partner and play an important role in the future growth of the team.
Duties and responsibilities
The exact responsibilities will be shaped around the successful individual's experience and level, but are likely to include:
- Managing a portfolio of trusts and estates and acting as a key point of contact for trustees, beneficiaries and other professional advisers.
- Preparing and reviewing annual trust accounts and trust tax returns.
- Preparing income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax computations.
- Advising on distributions to beneficiaries and associated tax reporting.
- Managing Trust Registration Service registrations, updates and annual declarations.
- Providing advice on the taxation and administration of a variety of trust structures.
- Supporting clients with inheritance tax and wider trust and estate planning matters.
- Liaising with HMRC, solicitors, investment managers and other professional advisers.
- Ensuring compliance deadlines are met and maintaining a high standard of client service.
- Identifying opportunities to provide additional advice and support to existing clients.
- Supporting and developing more junior members of the team.
- Working closely with the Trusts Partner on the continued development of the department.
- At Senior Manager or Associate Director level, taking a broader role in client development, team leadership and the strategic growth of the Trusts offering.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- The ability to manage your own workload and portfolio of clients.
- Experience gained within an accountancy practice, legal practice, trust company or another relevant professional services environment.
- STEP, ATT, CTA, ACA or ACCA qualifications would be advantageous, although relevant practical Trusts experience is more important than a particular qualification.
More experienced candidates should ideally have previous experience managing client relationships, developing junior colleagues and contributing to the wider development of a Trusts or Private Client team.
