We currently have an exciting new opportunity for a Tube Inspector to join our Inspection Services team in Methil or Rosyth on a full-time basis.

Job Purpose

Glacier Energy Inspection Services is seeking an experienced Tube Inspector specializing in Eddy Current Tube Testing (ECT) and IRIS. The successful candidate will carry out NDT on tube bundles, identify defects, and report findings accurately, working confidently on client sites, including outages/shutdowns.

Accountability

  • Carry out Eddy Current Tube Testing (ECT) on heat exchangers, boilers, condensers, and other tubed plant
  • Perform IRIS (Internal Rotary Inspection System) examinations to detect wall thinning, corrosion, and mechanical damage
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate ECT and IRIS equipment in accordance with manufacturer and procedural requirements
  • Interpret and analyze inspection data accurately to identify and classify tube defects
  • Compile clear, accurate, and timely inspection reports for clients, including defect mapping and recommendations
  • Apply UT, MPI, and DPI techniques as required across broader plant and asset inspection scopes
  • Ensure all inspection activity is carried out in compliance with relevant codes, standards, and client specifications
  • Maintain and care for inspection equipment, reporting any faults or calibration issues promptly
  • Follow all site-specific health, safety, and environmental procedures, including permit-to-work systems
  • Liaise professionally with clients, site personnel, and Glacier Energy management on inspection progress and findings

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience carrying out Eddy Current Tube Testing (ECT) – essential
  • Proven hands-on experience carrying out IRIS inspections – essential
  • Valid PCN/ICNDT (or equivalent) certification in ECT
  • Valid PCN/ICNDT (or equivalent) certification in IRIS
  • Valid UT Level 3.1 and 3.2 certification
  • Valid MPI (Magnetic Particle Inspection) certification
  • Valid DPI (Dye Penetrant Inspection) certification
  • Experience working within power generation, petrochemical, oil & gas, or similar heavy industry environments
  • Experience working on client sites, including outages/shutdowns, with the ability to work under time pressure
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry codes and standards, with a good track record of accurate, defect-free reporting
