Role Overview
Enjoying unique lifestyle opportunities, St Helena Island is a self-governing overseas territory of the United Kingdom. Although better placed to develop economically and socially as a result of opening our international airport in 2017, we are not at the stage of self-sufficiency and therefore remain dependent on UK government aid.
The Royal St Helena Police comprises of a Chief of Police, three Inspectors, six Sergeants including one DS and 19 Constables including three DCs. As an integral part of the operational uniform policing teams, you will establish a trust-based relationship with learners, collaborating to identify their individual needs and developing mutually agreed expectations of roles and responsibilities.
You will tutor learners through specific and risk-managed work-based scenarios, assessing their progress against learning outcomes and/or assessment criteria. As you maintain professional knowledge of relevant curricula and criteria you will plan, prepare and facilitate learning opportunities and provide review sessions with learners. You will help them to build evidence of their progress and competence, and develop action plans for their professional development.
Your broad police experience includes coaching, mentoring and tutoring with neighbourhood (community) policing, response policing, custody, crime investigation and working in partnership with external stakeholders. You understand current policing challenges, efficiency and diversity issues. Having a structured approach to the tutoring process, you apply an understanding of human behaviour to the identification of barriers to performance and learning, and to identifying appropriate development actions.

- Annual Pension Contribution of 7.5% of the basic aggregate salary

- Annual Leave of 30 days per annum (with an additional 10 days of public holidays)
