Job Title: Adult Learning Tutor - Family Learning and Parenting

Contract Duration: 9 months with a local authority

Rate: £22.20 per hour (Umbrella)

Location: Chichester / Worthing

Working Hours: 15-20 hours per week (Flexible)

Payment Schedule: Bi-weekly

DBS Requirement: Basic DBS

Summary

The Adult Learning Tutor for Family Learning and Parenting is responsible for designing, implementing, and assessing high-quality educational programs for adult learners in both community and online settings. The role is pivotal in aiding learners to enhance their skills, achieve educational objectives, and transition into further education, employment, or volunteering opportunities. A strong emphasis is placed on fostering an inclusive learning environment, ensuring learner wellbeing, safeguarding, and promoting continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and assess engaging educational programs tailored for adult learners.
  • Customize teaching strategies, materials, and resources to cater to individual learner needs, enhancing engagement and success.
  • Offer targeted classroom support to ensure all learners have equal opportunities for success.
  • Conduct regular assessments of learners' skills and needs using established assessment tools.
  • Develop and maintain personalized learning plans, tracking learner progress against set objectives.
  • Foster an inclusive, motivating, and secure learning environment that encourages learner participation and achievement.
  • Adhere to Professional Standards for Teachers and Trainers in all teaching practices.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in teaching and supporting adult learners in community or online settings.
  • Experience working with vulnerable, disadvantaged, or hard-to-reach learners.
  • Proficiency in assessing learner needs and tracking progress.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate learner records and documentation.
  • Contribution to curriculum planning and development.

Essential Qualifications

  • A relevant teaching qualification at Level 4 or above (e.g., CET, CTLLS, or equivalent), or a commitment to obtaining this qualification.
  • GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • Proficiency in IT, including Microsoft Office 365 and online learning platforms.
