Childcare & Health
Salary: £25,667 to £29,647 per annum (£28,991 to £33,486 full year equivalent)
Contract Type: Permanent - Term Time 37 hours per week
Reference: REC2509 | Closing date: Sunday 4th October
Term Time Contracts
This contract offers full-time hours across 38 weeks of the year, primarily during term time. You will be required to work during the academic terms, with some additional duties outside of term time as needed. This structure provides a balance between a full-time role and flexibility during non-term periods.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Tutorial Learning Mentor to join our Childcare and Health department.
This rewarding role is focused on supporting learners to overcome barriers to learning, achieve their full potential and successfully progress through their studies.
As a Tutorial Learning Mentor, you will provide pastoral support and guidance to a caseload of learners, working closely with teaching staff, parents, guardians and external agencies to ensure learners receive the support they need.
- Identify learners who may be at risk of underachievement
- Develop strategies to improve engagement, attendance and confidence
- Provide effective one-to-one and small group interventions
You will play a key role in delivering tutorials, supporting learners with target setting and Personal Learning Plans (PLPs), monitoring progress, encouraging positive behaviours and helping learners to develop the skills and resilience needed for success both within College and beyond.

About You
You will be an enthusiastic and learner-focused individual with experience of supporting young people within an educational environment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with learners, colleagues, parents and external stakeholders
- Using a solution-focused approach, you will be confident supporting learners with personal, social and academic challenges while encouraging independence, resilience and achievement
- Organised and proactive, with the ability to monitor learner progress, analyse information and implement effective interventions for learners who require additional support
- A commitment to safeguarding, learner wellbeing and creating positive outcomes for all learners is essential

Required
- Relevant Level 3 qualification
- GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent Level 2 qualification)
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
- 2 years’ experience of working with young people
- Experience of teaching/delivering tutorials/undertaking pastoral care in an education environment
- Experience of working with young people in an educational setting
- Experience of working with a wide range of stakeholders in an educational setting
