Part-Time Online Tutor – UK Versity
UK Versity is looking for experienced, enthusiastic and learner-focused Part-Time Online Tutors to join our growing academic team.
We are particularly interested in tutors who can teach in subject areas including English, Mathematics, Childcare, Business, Management, Tourism and Residential Care.
This is an excellent opportunity for tutors who enjoy working with small groups, sharing practical knowledge and helping learners build the confidence and understanding they need to progress academically and professionally.
The Role
As an Online Tutor at UK Versity, you will deliver engaging live teaching sessions to small groups of learners through Zoom.
Classes are typically made up of 2–5 learners, allowing tutors to provide a highly interactive and supportive learning experience. Sessions usually last approximately 35–40 minutes and are recorded for quality assurance and learner support purposes.
Your role is not simply to present information or read from slides. We are looking for tutors who can bring subjects to life by explaining concepts clearly, connecting theory with practical examples and encouraging learners to think, question and participate.
Teaching materials, learning resources and scheduled sessions will normally be provided, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality teaching.
Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
- Delivering live online teaching sessions through Zoom in a professional, engaging and learner-focused manner.
- Teaching units according to their learning outcomes and indicative content, ensuring learners understand the key concepts required to successfully complete their qualification.
- Beginning each session with a brief recap of previous learning to reinforce understanding and build continuity between sessions.
- Explaining theories, concepts, models and frameworks using relevant real-world and workplace examples.
- Encouraging discussion and learner participation rather than relying solely on presentation slides.
- Responding to learner questions and helping clarify areas of difficulty.
- Directing learners towards appropriate further reading, activities, workbooks and resources available through the learning platform.
- Helping learners understand how the knowledge covered during teaching sessions relates to their assignments and professional practice.
- Managing small online classes effectively and ensuring all learners have an opportunity to participate.
- Delivering sessions that are structured, productive and focused on giving learners genuine value from their live interaction with a tutor.
- Maintaining a professional standard of communication and online classroom conduct.

What We Are Looking For
We are looking for tutors who are confident communicators and who genuinely enjoy helping learners understand their subject.
You should be able to explain complex ideas in a straightforward and practical way and create an online classroom environment in which learners feel comfortable asking questions and participating.
Tutors should be comfortable working independently while following UK Versity's teaching structure, learning outcomes and academic requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
You should:
- Hold an appropriate qualification in the subject area you wish to teach.
- Normally hold a qualification at least one level above the level being taught. For example, tutors teaching at Level 4 would ordinarily be expected to hold at least a Level 5 qualification or a relevant degree.
- Have previous experience of teaching or tutoring online.
- Be able to demonstrate your online teaching ability during the recruitment process. Applicants may be asked to provide examples of previously recorded teaching sessions where available.
- Have strong verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Be confident using digital technology for teaching and communication.
- Experience of teaching regulated qualifications, adult learners or vocational/professional programmes would be particularly valuable.
