Twilight Veterinary Care AssistantBasildon Pitsea Hospital
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and passionate Veterinary Care Assistant to join our Veterinary Hospital in Basildon Pitsea.
Our 24-hour hospital is state of the art and purpose built and has recently been expanded to include facilities for MRI, hydrotherapy, orthopaedics & exotic patients in addition to our existing CT scanner, theatres and hospital wards. Our primary focus is to offer excellent clinical care to our patients and a high level support and development for our team. Our clinical team currently consists of 14 vets, 16 RVN’s, 6 SVN’s and 7 VCAs and is always growing.
You will assist the day and night team colleagues with clinical and non-clinical support to ensure the smooth running of the hospital and to provide the best standard of patient care.
Duties include:
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness in all clinical areas
- Answering calls, greeting clients and taking payments
- Preparing, packaging and sterilising instruments and equipment
- Walking, feeding and assisting with care of inpatients & surgical patients
- Assisting with consultations and dispensary processes
- Processing lab samples for external analysis and running in house tests

We are looking for a full time colleague working an average of 40 hours a week. This consists of 4 weekday shifts of 12pm-10pm and 1 out of every 4 weekends - Saturday & Sunday 3pm – 12am.
Previous experience as a Veterinary Care Assistant is advantageous, and working within a practice environment is a necessity.
