Yarn Twister Operator

This role focuses on setting up, operating, and maintaining woven yarn machines to produce high-quality twisted yarn for our flooring products.


Primary Objective

Set up, operate, and tend multiple machine spindles that twist yarn together in a continuous production line.


Major Functions & Responsibilities

  • Preparing machines & materials:

    • Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twisters
    • Reposition buggies of yarn at twisters, staging tubes for winder operation
  • Operational tasks:

    • Thread ends of single yarns and operate the spindle while repairing breakouts during production
    • Doff (remove) twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to buggies/containers
    • Monitor production output and machine performance for safe, efficient operation
  • Maintenance & safety:

    • Clean and dechoke spindles to ensure machine efficiency and meet production targets
    • Perform quality checks using black lights to inspect yarn integrity
    • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and company policies

  • Supervisory and additional responsibilities:
    • Attend any mandated job-related training programs
    • Perform general housekeeping duties as required
    • Execute other tasks assigned by management

Requirements & Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required:
    • Successful completion of on-the-job training
    • Successful completion of health and environmental safety training
    • Preferred: Previous experience in yarn production or manufacturing

Skills & Abilities

  • Technical & interpersonal:

    • Ability to operate in a team-based environment
    • Demonstrated basic math skills for calculations and data recording
    • Strong attention to detail in quality checks and machine maintenance
    • Problem-solving skills for standardized troubleshooting
  • Manual dexterity & physical adeptness:

    • Ability to read spec sheets, product information, and machine controls
