U13-U16 Academy Goalkeeper Coach (Lead)

Newcastle United Academy
Competitive Salary
Closing Date: Tuesday 4th August

Be part of something bigger. Developing the next generation of elite goalkeepers.

We are the heartbeat of the city. A club with bold ambitions on a global stage and deep roots in our community. If you’re driven to raise the bar and make an impact, you’ll find the platform, the people and the pride to do your best work here.

This is a great opportunity to develop, learn and make a real contribution in a fast-paced and exciting environment.

About the role

As U13-U16 Academy Goalkeeper Coach (Lead), you will plan, organise, deliver and review the coaching programme for Youth Development Phase goalkeepers within the U13-U16 squads, ensuring a tailored and age-appropriate coaching programme is in place. The role will also support the U18 programme and contribute to the development and transition of goalkeepers through the Academy pathway.

Working closely with the Head of Academy Goalkeeping Development, you will help define, develop, implement and review an elite-level goalkeeping curriculum aligned to the Club and Academy coaching philosophy, supporting goalkeepers to progress towards senior football.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design and delivery of the goalkeeping programme for players aged U13-U16, aligned with the Club’s playing philosophy and long-term player pathway.
  • Implement the Academy playing philosophy and ensure the Club’s principles and style of play are embedded within goalkeeping delivery.
  • Develop, review and deliver an age-appropriate goalkeeping curriculum that supports individual needs and reflects modern trends in the game.
  • Support the transition of goalkeepers through the Foundation Phase, Youth Development Phase and Professional Development Phase.
  • Lead and manage individual development plans for U13-U16 goalkeepers, monitoring technical, tactical, physical and psychological development.
  • Conduct player reviews, attend parent meetings and contribute to retain/release decisions.
  • Use performance data and reporting platforms to track progression and produce individual player reports.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of set plays within the Youth Development Phase, working with YDP coaching staff and the wider interdisciplinary team.
  • Coordinate with sessional goalkeeping coaches across the U13-U16 age groups and attend relevant multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Support recruitment activity for the Youth Development Phase, contributing to trial processes, scouting insight and player profiling.
  • Support U18 goalkeepers with training and matchday fixtures where required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
