Quality Matron

The Quality Matron is responsible for supporting the Clinical Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency (UEC) and Head of Clinical Pathway for UEC with the clinical quality agenda across the Urgent and Emergency Care teams in GMMH. The UEC teams include Home Based Treatment Team (HBTT), Mental Health Liaison Team (MHLT), Mental Health Urgent Triage (MHUT), and NHS 111.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership to each of the UEC Teams and provide direction for staff in maintaining clinical standards of care and in implementing clinical and quality service improvements. This includes ensuring that Care Quality Commission (CQC) essential standards are met and exceeded.

Matrons are vital to delivering high-quality care to patients and their relatives across the NHS and the wider health and care sector. They are instrumental in promoting high standards of clinical care, reducing health inequalities and promoting equality for all, workforce retention and recruitment, staff education and development, compassionate, inclusive leadership, and patient safety.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
