UI Developer | £650 - £750 P/D (Inside IR35) | 6 Month Contract | London (Hybrid) | Global Retailer

We are currently seeking an experienced UI Developer to join a high-profile programme with a leading global retail organisation based in London.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development of modern, customer-facing digital products, leveraging React, Next.js, and modern front-end technologies to deliver outstanding user experiences at scale. You will collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX/UI Designers, and Backend Engineers to build engaging, performant, and accessible web applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance modern web applications using React and Next.js.
  • Build responsive, pixel-perfect user interfaces from UX/UI designs and wireframes.
  • Write clean, reusable, maintainable, and scalable front-end code using JavaScript, CSS, and SASS/SCSS.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure a seamless user experience across desktop and mobile devices.
  • Optimise applications for performance, scalability, accessibility, and SEO.
  • Work closely with backend development teams to integrate APIs and services.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to front-end best practices and development standards.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and continuously improve existing user interfaces and applications.
  • Contribute to Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience developing UI applications with React.js.
  • Experience building server-rendered and static applications with Next.js.
  • Excellent knowledge of JavaScript (ES6+).
  • Strong experience with HTML5, CSS3, SASS/SCSS, and responsive design principles.
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and integrating front-end applications with backend services.
  • Strong understanding of component-based architecture and reusable design patterns.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Knowledge of cross-browser compatibility and web standards.
  • Strong focus on code quality, performance optimisation, and accessibility.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience with TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with state management libraries such as Redux, Zustand, or Context API.
  • Experience working with design systems and component libraries.
  • Knowledge of automated testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library.
  • Experience within large-scale enterprise or retail environments.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern development practices.
