UI/UX Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a UI/UX Director based in United Kingdom.

This is an executive-level, hands-on design leadership role focused on elevating UI/UX quality across sophisticated web and e-commerce experiences. You will lead a multidisciplinary team while serving as the bridge between creative vision, user experience, and front-end technical execution. The role combines design systems, accessibility, responsive and mobile-first thinking, data-informed decision-making, and emerging AI capabilities. You will also play a visible role in client strategy, executive conversations, proposals, and new business pitches. Strong operational ownership is essential, including capacity planning, estimation, forecasting, and budget management. You’ll work with major brands and experienced specialists across strategy, design, technology, data, and e-commerce in a flexible remote environment.

Accountabilities

  • Set creative and technical direction for UI/UX initiatives, balancing exceptional visual design with usability, performance, responsive behavior, accessibility, and technical feasibility.
  • Lead a mobile-first design approach across websites, applications, and omnichannel experiences, ensuring consistent customer experiences across touchpoints.
  • Oversee scalable design systems, component libraries, Figma Variables, design tokens, and front-end handoffs across multiple projects and clients.
  • Provide design leadership for complex e-commerce initiatives involving platforms such as Shopify and Adobe Commerce, as well as technologies and frameworks such as React.js, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for visual consistency, micro-interactions, motion, craftsmanship, and WCAG accessibility compliance.
  • Use data and customer insights to inform design strategy, identify meaningful opportunities, and strengthen the business impact of UX and UI decisions.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging AI tools and technologies to accelerate prototyping, streamline workflows, and improve team efficiency without compromising quality.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop UX and UI designers while fostering a culture of learning, autonomy, collaboration, and high-quality execution.
  • Own resource allocation, project estimation, capacity planning, workload balancing, forecasting, and delivery coordination to meet deadlines and maintain quality.
  • Partner with project management to monitor creative budgets, improve processes, and remove operational bottlenecks.
  • Lead strategic client discussions, executive presentations, proposals, and new business pitches, communicating creative concepts, technical considerations, and the commercial value of design.
  • Translate client business objectives into compelling digital strategies and guide senior stakeholders through feedback, iteration, and design decisions.
  • Advocate for human-centered design, user research, accessibility, and strategic UX/UI as drivers of measurable business outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
