Freelance Experiential Storytelling & Performance Consultant

About the Role

For a quarter of a century, Jellycat has brought joy, wonder, and playful fun to people around the world. Our utterly original and adored toys continue to captivate millions—blending whimsical expressions, deliciously soft fabrics, and playful charm. We’re seeking a freelance creative specialist to shape and deliver immersive customer experiences that elevate our experiential retail activations to unforgettable moments.

This role is ideal for professionals with background experience in:

  • Theatrical direction, performance arts, or improvisation
  • Immersive or interactive storytelling (e.g., immersive theatre, virtual escapes)
  • Themed retail, visitor attractions, or live events
  • Character development, dramaturgy, or audience psychology

You’ll collaborate across teams to create and refine experiences that are both emotionally resonant and operationally robust while ensuring our brand’s unique magic shines through in every interaction.

Key Responsibilities

Storytelling & Experience Design

  • Develop immersive narratives, customer journeys, and staged experiences tailored to shopper behaviours.
  • Write performance-ready scripts, dialogue cues, and interaction frameworks that feel alive and evolving.
  • Apply techniques from theatre, immersive art, and themed design to reinvent retail as an experience.
  • Design participation-driven moments that spark curiosity, wonder, and brand advocacy.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
