UK Based Remote 3D Vehicle Artist Contract – Space / Hard Surface

UK Contractor | Full-Time or Part-Time | up to 3 Month Contract

An exciting independent game project is looking for a UK-based 3D Artist to support the development of a realistic spaceflight simulation. The project has secured funding for UK-based development support and is looking for an artist to help create a range of large-scale environmental and gameplay assets.

This is a flexible, part-time contract that can be completed alongside a full-time role, with genuine creative input into how the assets are designed and brought into the game.

Key Responsibilities

  • Space & Hard Surface Art – Create realistic sci-fi structures, buildings and other hard-surface assets, with a strong focus on believable scale, detail and functionality.
  • Environmental Asset Creation – Develop assets that can be integrated naturally into the wider game world and support the player experience.
  • Level Art Awareness – Create assets with an understanding of scale, composition, player navigation and how environments function within a game.
  • Texturing & Materials – Develop high-quality textures and materials and provide production-ready Blender files.
  • Creative Input – Work with a degree of creative freedom, helping determine the visual direction and appearance of the assets.
  • Game-Ready Delivery – Produce clean, optimised assets suitable for implementation within a game environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The ideal candidate will be a 3D Artist with a strong realistic hard-surface background, ideally with experience creating sci-fi, space, military or other technically detailed assets.

  • Strong Blender skills are required, alongside an understanding of level art and creating assets for game environments. Experience working on space-based games or simulations would be a major advantage, as would a genuine interest in the genre.
  • This would suit an artist looking for flexible freelance work alongside an existing role, with the opportunity to contribute creatively to an exciting independent project and build their portfolio with distinctive space and hard-surface work.
