Role Overview:
At Sanderson Design Group, we have an exciting opportunity for someone to join Sanderson Design Group leading an established sales team operating across the UK, and our flagship London Showrooms. In addition to leading the team, you will also have the opportunity to manage your own sales territory, representing all six of our brands to a targeted cohort within our London customer base.

Our portfolio spans fabric, wallpaper, and paint, with manufacturing capabilities through Anstey and Standfast & Barracks. Our purpose is to ‘bring the beautiful into people’s homes and lives’ and we are the proud owner of one of Europe’s largest design archives, with over 75,000 historical documents and artworks. We also have a growing international licensing programme which supports our strategic global expansion.
Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development
- Deliver against sales targets within agreed expenditure budgets and appropriate margins, to achieve profitable sales.
- Maximise the potential of existing customers by understanding their needs, their businesses and the opportunities available.
- Manage the relationship with all allocated customers through consistently outstanding service, acting as senior point of escalation.
- Drive the procurement of new accounts within the region, in liaison with the UK Sales Director and brand marketing.
- Drive and secure new brand opportunities across all brands, in liaison with the UK Sales Director.
- Proactively manage the route to market for all new ranges within the region, adapting quickly to market changes.
- Attend industry events and conferences to generate new business leads.
- Lead key events within the showroom, supporting planning and delivery.
- Manage and monitor the local P&L, reviewing performance with Finance and taking corrective action where adverse trends emerge.
- Develop, execute and drive sales for all allocated customers in the region.
- Devise effective regional sales strategies to engage, develop and manage customers, and build cohesive long-term relationships.
- Formulate, review and implement the most effective journey plan (territory coverage plan) for yourself and the team.

Leading and developing the team
- Lead the regional Sales Manager team effectively, with regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and clear priorities.
- Lead and support the Showroom Manager to ensure KPIs are met, customer journeys are refined and team engagement is maintained.
- Set direction and align the team, developing individuals through on-the-job observation, joint customer visits, coaching and feedback.
- Identify hiring needs and assist with selection, induction and training requirements, working with the UK Sales Director and the Group People team.
- Motivate, manage, mentor and develop third-party representatives operating in the region, so they have the core competencies to manage and grow their areas.
Brand representation
- Ensure all brands are fully and appropriately represented in line with brand values, working closely with Brand Managers and the marketing department.
- Share and promote the vision and strategy of the business with key buyers and customers, and ensure they understand the DNA of each brand.
- Ensure the promotion, distribution and presentation of the brands in customer environments meets brand standards.
- Understand and use social media appropriately, in line with company policy.
Systems, insight and reporting
- Record, analyse, report and administer using the CRM, maintaining comprehensive and accurate customer records.
- Use WG360 to identify and optimise sales opportunities.
- Analyse sales information regularly to inform account, territory and business development decisions.
- Keep the business fully informed of competitor activity, market conditions and general market intelligence.
- Submit a comprehensive monthly report to the UK Sales Director to agreed deadlines.

Person Specification:
Essential
- Proven sales management experience, including successfully leading and developing field sales teams.
- Demonstrable track record of achieving targets and driving sales growth.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire a sales team.
- Strong relationship management skills and experience of growing significant accounts.
- Commercial and financial awareness, including managing to budget and margin.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with good working knowledge of Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to present, influence and communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally.
- Confident negotiator with strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and a problem-solving attitude.
- Self-driven and results-oriented, and able to pick up an established region and team at pace.
- Able to travel regularly within the London region and across the UK, with occasional overnight stays.
Desirable
- Experience in interiors, furnishings, design or a comparable premium branded consumer or trade sector.
- Experience of managing and negotiating with third-party agents, distributors or representatives.
- Professional sales or leadership training.
- Experience with CRM systems and sales analysis tools.
- Experience of contract, project or specification-led sales.
- Ability to build and interpret financial models.
Qualifications:
- Business related degree and/or equivalent preferred
- UK/EU Drivers Licenses
- Ongoing CPD and up to date personal development plan
