CFO - Onoré UK
The CFO will take overall responsibility for the financial leadership of Onoré UK, playing a central role in shaping the next stage of the business as it builds on strong recent growth and becomes increasingly integrated within IDAK Food Group. Working closely with the UK Managing Director and leadership team, this is an opportunity to have genuine influence across the commercial, operational, and strategic agenda.
Client Details
Onoré UK, part of PE-backed IDAK Food Group, comprises Cakesmiths and Proper Cornish, two established food businesses operating across premium cakes, bakery, and savoury pastry products.
The UK business has grown significantly in recent years and is now entering an exciting next phase of its development. Its evolution from a relatively standalone, entrepreneurial environment into part of a larger international Group creates a compelling opportunity to build on what has already made the businesses successful while introducing greater financial sophistication, insight, and scalability.
Description
The CFO will take overall responsibility for the financial leadership of Onoré UK, working in close partnership with the UK Managing Director and leadership team while building strong relationships with IDAK Group Finance and international stakeholders.
This is a broad, influential, and commercially focused leadership role extending well beyond financial stewardship. The CFO will bring greater insight and visibility to performance, challenge thinking, and help shape decisions around customers, products, investment, and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted strategic and commercial partner to the Managing Director and UK leadership team, playing an active role in shaping the direction and future development of the business.
- Bring high-quality financial and commercial insight to Board and leadership discussions, constructively challenging performance and established thinking.
- Lead the UK financial strategy, balancing the entrepreneurial needs of the UK business with the ambitions and requirements of the wider IDAK Group.
- Strengthen management information, forecasting, and financial planning to create greater visibility of performance and enable faster, better-informed decisions.
- Develop a deeper understanding of profitability across customers, products, and channels, helping the business drive margin improvement and profitable growth.
- Work closely with commercial and operational leadership to identify opportunities across pricing, mix, productivity, cost management, and margin.
- Maintain rigorous financial control across accounting, cash flow, working capital, capital expenditure, and balance sheet management.
- Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to UK leadership and the wider Group.
- Develop meaningful financial and operational KPIs and, importantly, ensure insight is translated into action.
- Lead the continued development of the UK finance infrastructure, processes, and controls as the organisation grows in scale and complexity.
- Play a leading role in assessing and potentially implementing a new ERP platform, alongside the broader automation and digitalisation of financial and business information.
- Provide financial leadership around investment proposals, business cases, capital expenditure, new customers, and other significant commercial opportunities.
- Build strong relationships across IDAK, becoming an effective senior leader within an increasingly international and matrixed Group.
- Manage key external financial relationships including auditors, banks, tax advisers, and professional partners.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
