UK Financial Controller | Technology Business | London (Hybrid)

Join a fast-growing technology business at an exciting stage of growth. Our client is a rapidly expanding technology company operating across international markets. As the business continues to scale, they are looking for an ambitious UK Financial Controller to take ownership of the UK finance function and play a key role in strengthening financial operations, controls, and reporting.

Reporting into the Group Financial Controller based in Europe, this is a high-impact role offering the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across the business while supporting continued growth and operational excellence.

The Role

This is a hands-on Financial Controller position suited to a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will have responsibility for the UK entity, ensuring accurate reporting, robust controls, and effective financial processes.

We are open to considering candidates who are looking to take the next step in their career and transition into their first Financial Controller role. This could be an excellent opportunity for a strong Senior Finance Manager or Finance Lead who is ready to take ownership of a finance function and broaden their leadership experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the UK finance function and oversee day-to-day financial operations.
  • Lead the month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Prepare accurate management accounts and statutory reporting.
  • Maintain strong financial controls, including balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, VAT, and tax requirements.
  • Manage external audit processes and relationships with advisors.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Partner with teams across the business to provide commercial financial insight.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, systems, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with the wider international finance team.
  • Support the development and growth of the finance function as the business scales.

About You

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong technical accounting skills and experience operating in a dynamic, growth-focused environment.

You will ideally have:

  • ACA or CA qualification, top 10 audit trained.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and experience owning month-end processes.
  • Experience improving processes and implementing efficiencies (looking for someone tech-forward and focused on automating processes with AI).
  • Exposure to regulated entities (fintech, banking, or public disclosure etc).
  • Strong knowledge of UK statutory reporting and financial controls.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across a business.
  • The ambition and capability to step into a broader role within the business.
