About The Role
Specialist Risk Group is seeking to hire a UK Head of Risk & Compliance to support SRG’s growing UK and Ireland business portfolios. Managing a team of Compliance and Risk subject matter experts and advisory managers, the role will focus on meeting regulatory requirements, supporting the business in operational queries and initiatives whilst improving and establishing sound governance frameworks, facilitating alignment with the wider SRG Group.
Please note that this is a 12 month fixed term contract, based on a hybrid basis at our London HQ.

What you’ll be doing
Overseeing the UK Risk and Compliance function, you will be expected to:
- Manage the delivery of the Risk and Compliance Plan, providing the necessary steer and guidance to team members, and updating the Group Head and stakeholders on status.
- Lead the Risk and compliance team in delivering and maintaining continued improvement in the relevant Risk and Compliance frameworks and processes.
- Oversee the execution of a risk-based compliance monitoring programme, applying business and governance acumen.
- Advise on and implement FCA requirements appropriately and overseeing structured adherence to regulatory requirements.
- Provide analysis and early warning of regulatory change which may impact the business.
- Ensure there is compliance input and support for business led projects.
- Deliver Risk and Compliance integration activity in relation to SRG’s new acquisitions.
- Act as the UK DPO, advising on data protection obligations and being the point of contact for the Information Commissioner’s Office.
- Oversee the management of the firms’ regulatory permissions and submission of the firm's regulatory returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Provide independent Risk and Compliance reporting to the boards, committees and senior management.
Who we’re looking for
The role will be based in our London office and involves exercising technical and operational Risk and Compliance knowledge, namely:
- 7- 10 years Compliance and Risk management experience in the UK insurance broker sector
- Knowledge of FCA requirements, and experience in addressing such requirements and the implementation of Compliance frameworks
- Experience in handling FCA regulatory returns
- Proven People Manager
- Experience in reviewing regulations and regulatory developments, and providing practical advice to the business units
- Experience with matrix reporting and active stakeholder management
- Professional business communication and presentation skills
