Job Title: UK HR & Payroll Operations Specialist (Part-Time Contractor/Consultant)

Reports To: People Ops Manager

Location: 100% Remote (UK)

Engagement: Contractor / Consultant

Commitment: 5 hours per week / 20 hours per month

About the Role

We are an innovative, fast-paced IT company seeking a highly organized, hands-on, and tech-savvy UK HR & Payroll Operations Consultant. In this part-time contracting role, you will take ownership of our core UK HR administrative and compliance processes.

We need an independent professional who operates seamlessly in the background, communicates transparently, and provides regular updates without needing to be micromanaged.

Currently, this role is heavily weighted toward Visa & Sponsorship management, alongside critical payroll, pension, and advisory duties.

How You Will Spend Your Time

🛂 Visa & Sponsorship Management

  • Be the Driver: Proactively manage the full lifecycle of UK Skilled Worker visas and sponsorship documentation.
  • Compliance & Administration: Maintain and update the SMS portal, request Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS), and ensure strict company compliance.
  • Expert Guidance: Independently manage renewals, advise on appropriate SoC codes based on job descriptions, and ensure accurate salary threshold calculations.
  • Process Management: Follow up with candidates and internal stakeholders to ensure timelines are met safely and the ball is always rolling.

💷 UK Payroll Administration

  • Full-Cycle Support: Execute and administer UK monthly payroll submissions accurately and on schedule.
  • Collaboration: Work jointly with our HR Ops Manager and HR Team to gather payroll items throughout the month.

📈 Pension Administration

  • Monthly Management: Handle monthly pension uploads, enrollments, and terminations.
  • Platform Expertise: Utilize the pension portal for all pension-related administration (prior Aegon experience is highly preferred).

⚖️ UK Employment Compliance & HR Advisory

  • Ad-Hoc Advisory: Serve as the primary point of contact for quick, ad-hoc questions regarding UK labor code regulations, statutory notice rules, and legal minimum standards.
  • Proactive Compliance: Keep a pulse on UK legislation changes, bring them to our attention, and help amend or draft employee handbooks and policies accordingly.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in UK HR generalist, HR advisory, or HR operations roles. CIPD qualification (Chartered Member preferred) or equivalent is a strong plus.
  • Immigration Expert: Top-notch, practical knowledge of UK worker visas, sponsorship compliance, right-to-work tracking, and managing renewals independently.
  • Payroll & Pension Pro: Proven experience with full-cycle UK payroll and pension regulations.
  • Tech-Savvy: Highly skilled in IT. You adapt quickly to new software and are proficient with tools like BambooHR, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and modern HR/Payroll management software.
  • Working Style: You are a "doer" with practical, know-how-to knowledge. You excel at heavy administrative tasks, work highly independently, and communicate updates proactively so the wider team always knows where things stand.
  • Working Hours: Pre-set, 1 hour daily, mainly fixed (agreed upon) so we know when you are available but of course there is flexibility when needed.
  • Hourly Rate: From £25.00 / hour (Negotiable based on skills, certifications, and experience)
