HSE Assurance & Governance Lead
UK Wide | Competitive Salary + Car Allowance + Bonus + Generous Pension
Our client is a market-leading EPC contractor delivering complex power transmission and substation projects across the UK and internationally. With a strong focus on safety, innovation, and sustainability, they are helping to build the infrastructure required for a more secure and lower-carbon energy future.
They are seeking an experienced HSE Assurance & Governance Lead to provide oversight, assurance, and continuous improvement across a major UK project portfolio. This is a key role supporting the UK HSE function, ensuring robust governance, effective risk management, and compliance with legal, client, and business requirements across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the UK HSE audit and assurance programme.
- Conduct internal audits, inspections, and compliance reviews.
- Verify the effectiveness of critical controls for high-risk activities.
- Monitor compliance with HSE legislation, standards, and customer requirements.
- Manage corrective actions arising from audits, inspections, and investigations.
- Analyse HSE performance data, trends, and KPIs.
- Support governance reviews, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead contractor and supply chain assurance activities across projects.
- Promote best practice and lessons learned throughout the business.

About You
Essential
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification.
- CMIOSH or working towards Chartered status.
- Strong HSE experience within power transmission and substation projects.
- Proven auditing, assurance, and compliance experience.
- Excellent knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Strong communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable
- ISO 45001, ISO 14001, or ISO 9001 Lead Auditor qualifications.
- Experience on major infrastructure or energy transmission projects.
- Lead Investigator qualification.
- Experience using HSE reporting and assurance systems.
