UK & International Direct Tax Focus
Role Overview
Excellent first move in-house from practice with great training provided.
This multinational industrial business services group operates in over 30 countries and has a global tax team of five. It has a prime Central London HQ where employees are based three days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Head of Tax and Senior Tax Manager, supporting initially then leading on tax governance initiatives.
- Manage relationships with HMRC and external advisers.
- Drive continuous improvement across tax compliance processes, controls, and reporting.
- Challenge existing ways of working, identify opportunities to leverage technology, AI, and automation.
- Position the Tax team as a trusted business partner across the organization.
- Work alongside the Senior Tax Manager in the delivery of all Group tax compliance obligations, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Lead the preparation and review of UK corporate tax computations, returns, tax provisions, and tax reporting disclosures.
- Support the Group's interim and year-end tax reporting processes, including current and deferred tax calculations.
- Monitor tax legislative developments and assess their impact on the Group.
- Lead the Group's Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) framework, ensuring compliance with requirements and continuous enhancement of tax controls.
- Support responses to internal audit reviews and implement recommendations where appropriate.
- Act as a key point of contact for HMRC on routine enquiries, disclosures, and compliance matters.
- Build strong relationships across Finance, Financial Reporting, Legal, Internal Audit, Treasury, HR, and other business functions.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise, and improve tax processes.
- Evaluate and implement opportunities to utilise AI, automation, and technology solutions within the tax function.
- Support the Head of Tax on ad hoc advisory matters across the Group.
- Assist with corporate restructurings, financing projects, acquisitions, disposals, and other strategic initiatives.
- Contribute to proactive tax planning and structuring projects aligned with business objectives.

About You

- ACA/ACCA qualified with at least five years total experience in tax
- Professionally trained within a top 10 firm
- Proven background in corporate tax
- Strong tax technology skills
- Exceptional relationship building skills
- Able to explain complex information in plain language
