Arthur D. Little (ADL) is a global strategy and operations management consultancy with operations in over 40 countries globally. Our office in London focuses on food, beverage and consumer goods, travel and transportation, energy and utilities, defence and telecoms and media especially.
Arthur D. Little’s Innovation practice in London is currently looking for an experienced Engagement Manager with a strong track record in delivering assignments focussing on: innovation, growth, science and technology and R&D. Our team focuses on delivering strategy consulting and transformation work for innovation, R&D and related technical functions such as quality management and regulatory affairs. We work mostly with large blue chip companies as well as incubators, accelerators and corporate venturing teams.
Our innovation team works alongside our digital transformation team, Catalyst, to help our clients improve productivity, performance and growth through the development and deployment of digital tools relevant to science, technology and R&D. We also regularly support other ADL practices as well as our independent think tank, BlueShift, with specific technical insights.
Your prior projects could include work related to organisational transformation, new product or process development, technology evaluation and deployment, innovation or growth strategy and R&D performance improvement. Typical engagements include setting long term technology strategy, redesigning organisational structures and looking for opportunities to boost productivity through digital technologies and AI.

As a Manager at Arthur D. Little you will take ownership for the moment-to-moment delivery of assignments, working with a team of consultants and analysts, and with oversight from the Partner in Charge. In addition to delivering project work, the successful candidate will also actively participate in business development activities, supporting lead generation and sales.
Responsibilities
- Leading workstreams of consultants and analysts in the delivery of client assignments, usually reporting directly to a Partner in charge
- Active participation in business development activities including sales, lead generation and networking
- Preparing proposals and pitches
- Developing and coaching more junior colleagues
- Contributing to the Practice's intellectual capital (solution offerings, thought leadership and conferences)
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years’ experience in some or all of the following:
- Innovation and R&D strategy
- Product and portfolio strategy and development
- Operating model design, organizational change and transformation
- Innovation and R&D performance and productivity improvement
- New growth opportunity identification, both organic and inorganic
- Digital enablement of innovation, technology and R&D
Previous experience in a business or management role is highly desirable. Experience in the consumer goods, manufacturing, engineering, chemicals, materials or life sciences industries or energy sectors are preferred, but other sectors such as telecoms and transport are also relevant.
At least 2 years of your work experience would ideally be based in a consulting environment but we also welcome candidates who have industry experience in a relevant role (Innovation, NPD, Strategy, etc).

- Aptitude for client relationship building, and motivation for selling and business development
- Committed to the highest professional standards of quality and integrity
- Excellent communication, facilitation, analytical skills
- Strong personal skills, team player
- At least 2.1 Honours Degree, MSc or PhD.
- A technical or science discipline is a strong preference.
Some international travel should be expected. The role is based physically in central London, but we operate hybrid work arrangements.
