About This Role
This role is ideal for an experienced, driven UK payroll professional who thrives in a client-facing environment and is passionate about delivering a high-quality payroll service. You will be part of a collaborative payroll team responsible for processing and reviewing approximately 350 weekly and monthly UK payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and excellent client experience at all times.
You will combine strong technical payroll knowledge with effective communication, supporting clients and internal teams while acting as a trusted subject matter expert. Attention to detail, organisation, and the ability to manage competing deadlines are key to success in this role.
What Your Days Will Look Like
- Manage end-to-end UK payroll processing, including calculations, validation checks, reconciliations, and final reviews, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and a consistently high-quality service across weekly and monthly payrolls.
- Maintain compliance by applying correct tax and National Insurance treatment, submitting RTI filings to HMRC, uploading pension contributions, and overseeing year-end activities such as P60s, P11Ds, and statutory deadlines.
- Act as a trusted payroll subject matter expert, responding to client and internal queries with clear guidance, resolving issues with HMRC and providers, and supporting colleagues to meet service levels.
- Support continuous improvement through client onboarding, documentation and process mapping, payroll projects, system enhancements, and training on legislative updates, system changes, and more efficient ways of working.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
