Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the UK payroll subject matter expert, providing guidance on payroll legislation, processing, and best practices throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Work closely with developers to translate complex payroll requirements into clear functional specifications.
  • Identify system gaps and recommend enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
  • Lead and support system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and payroll validation activities.
  • Collaborate with the testing team to investigate, replicate, and resolve payroll-related issues.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive test scenarios, ensuring payroll calculations comply with statutory requirements.
  • Use Jira to manage defects, enhancements, and development tasks within an Agile environment.

About You

  • Extensive hands-on experience processing UK payroll, with expert knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory requirements, and payroll calculations.
  • Previous involvement in the implementation, development, or enhancement of payroll software solutions.
  • Proven experience as a Payroll Subject Matter Expert (SME), Payroll Systems Specialist, or in a similar role.
  • Strong background in payroll testing, gap analysis, and software validation.
  • Experience using Jira or similar Agile project management tools.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, testers, and key business stakeholders.

  • Experience working within a SaaS software environment.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies.
