I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Competitive & Configuration Benchmarking

  • Own and maintain a trim/configuration-level UK competitor database for the assigned segments (B/C/D SUV, BEV / PHEV / HEV), covering price, equipment, powertrain, dimensions and battery/range data.
  • Produce feature-by-feature specification comparisons and identify content gaps, must-have equipment and over-specification against each competitor.
  • Track competitor activity continuously – OTR price moves, trim and model-year changes, new entrants, promotional finance rates, deposit contributions and campaign offers – and issue a regular competitive movement summary.

Pricing, Trim Walk and Transaction Price Analysis

  • Build and maintain MSRP / OTR and target transaction price (TP) ladders by trim and powertrain for launch and in-life actions, including the trim walk and option / pack bundling logic.
  • Run equipment-adjusted (value-per-£) price positioning analysis to evidence the recommended price point, and quantify the transaction price gap versus each competitor.
  • Model discount, dealer margin and commercial support scenarios and their effect on net revenue per unit; prepare the pricing recommendation pack for launch and pricing decision gates.

Monthly Payment and Finance Offer Modelling

  • Build monthly payment models across UK retail and fleet structures (PCP, PCH, HP, BCH, Salary Sacrifice, Motability), with sensitivities on residual value / GFV, APR, deposit, term and annual mileage.
  • Benchmark competitor monthly payments on equivalent terms and identify the affordability gap that drives the customer's actual purchase decision.
  • Quantify the impact of UK tax and policy structures – Benefit-in-Kind, VED and the Expensive Car Supplement, ZEV Mandate, grants and incentives – on retail and fleet total cost of ownership.

Market Data, Volume and Mix Forecasting

  • Own the UK market data toolkit, including SMMT registration data and JATO (or equivalent) model / configuration-level volume data; maintain consistent segment and powertrain definitions.
  • Build bottom-up volume forecasts by trim, powertrain and channel (retail, fleet, Motability, salary sacrifice), reconciled against segment size, share assumptions and production / supply constraints.
  • Track performance after launch – order intake, trim mix versus plan, price realisation and stock cover – and provide variance analysis with recommended corrective actions.

Customer and Channel Insight

  • Analyse customer order and owner data to build UK buyer profiles (age, income band, occupation, household and home-charging access) and translate them into trim, equipment and positioning recommendations.
  • Support retail versus fleet channel analysis and feed dealer and partner input back into product and pricing proposals.

Deliverables and Cross-Functional Support

  • Produce decision-ready analysis to a consistent house format – single-page competitive summaries, pricing ladders and volume models – in advanced Excel and PowerPoint, in English and suitable for headquarters review.
  • Support launch readiness: price lists, specification sheets, retail and dealer-facing pricing and finance material, and input to press and marketing pricing communication.
  • Work with Finance, Marketing, Sales and Network, Aftersales, the UK R&D centre and headquarters product teams to source assumptions, validate feasibility and keep one agreed set of numbers.

Other Features of Job

  • Based at BBP, with occasional UK travel to dealers, the UK R&D centre and industry / product events.
  • Occasional international travel to headquarters.
  • English is the working language of the role.
