Are you an experienced water industry sales leader who understands how digital technology is changing the way utilities operate?

Influx Search is again partnered with a global leader in water technology and intelligent water management solutions, supporting utilities worldwide to improve efficiency, resilience and sustainability.

The organisation is entering the next phase of its UK water utility strategy, with an expanding portfolio of digital hardware, monitoring technologies, software and subscription-based services.

As the team grows, the business is creating a new sales leadership position to bring greater focus to this expanding portfolio and accelerate its growth across the UK and Ireland.

What’s the role?

As Sales Manager – UK Water Utilities, Digital, you will lead a team responsible for developing some of the organisation’s most important water utility relationships and accelerating adoption of its digital and intelligent water solutions.

You will initially manage a team of approximately six direct reports, combining digital sales specialists with established water utility sales professionals.

This is not a purely desk-based management position. The business is looking for a visible, hands-on sales leader who is comfortable joining customer meetings, supporting major opportunities, coaching people in the field and stepping directly into commercial situations when required.

You will play an important role in bringing together digital and traditional water technology expertise, helping the team move towards broader, solution-led customer conversations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of approximately six water utility sales professionals.
  • Developing and executing the national sales strategy across the UK and Ireland water utility market, with the primary focus on the UK.
  • Accelerating growth and customer adoption across an expanding digital water portfolio.
  • Supporting the team on strategic accounts, complex opportunities and major negotiations.
  • Building senior-level relationships with key decision-makers across UK water utilities.
  • Driving a customer-success mentality, ensuring customers achieve measurable value from digital solutions after the initial sale.
  • Identifying opportunities to expand existing relationships across hardware, software, SaaS and wider water technology solutions.
  • Managing commercial performance, pipeline development, forecasting and revenue growth.
  • Analysing market trends, customer requirements and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.
  • Working closely with product management, service, technical support and wider commercial teams.
  • Supporting major framework and strategic sales opportunities, which can range from smaller requirements through to multi-million-pound agreements.
  • Providing visible, practical leadership through regular customer engagement and field activity.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The position will involve regular UK travel and customer visits. The successful candidate will also be expected to maintain a regular presence with the wider team at the organisation’s UK office, typically around once per week.

What’s on offer?

This is an opportunity to join a major global water technology organisation while playing a key role in a significant evolution of its commercial strategy.

The organisation is moving towards a more unified digital water proposition, combining specialist monitoring and software capabilities with its wider technology portfolio. Over the coming years, the sales team will increasingly be able to take customers a connected combination of hardware, intelligent monitoring, data and subscription-based services rather than individual standalone products.

For the successful candidate, that creates an opportunity to shape not only sales performance but also how the organisation approaches the UK digital water market.

You will inherit an established team and customer base while being given the mandate to improve structure, coach performance, develop strategic relationships and accelerate growth.

What are we looking for?

Above all, we are looking for an established sales leader who understands the UK water utility market and knows how to get the best from a technically capable commercial team.

Ideally, you will have:

  • 5+ years’ B2B sales experience within water utilities, infrastructure or a closely related industrial market.
  • Proven experience leading, coaching and developing sales professionals.
  • A strong track record of delivering revenue growth and managing strategic/key accounts.
  • A good understanding of the UK municipal water sector and its major utility organisations.
  • Experience with digital solutions, IoT, SaaS, telemetry, monitoring, intelligent infrastructure or related technology.
  • The ability to lead complex sales cycles and major commercial negotiations.
  • Strong consultative selling and senior stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience developing sales strategy, managing pipelines and translating market opportunities into commercial action.
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to spend meaningful time with customers and the sales team in the field.
  • The commercial breadth to work across both established water technologies and an increasingly digital portfolio.

Experience with pumping systems, water treatment, network management or other core water infrastructure technologies would be highly advantageous, as would an engineering, technical or business-related degree.

This role would suit an experienced water industry sales manager who wants to lead through a period of genuine change, building a high-performing team while helping a major water technology organisation expand its position in the rapidly developing digital water market.
