Senior Philanthropy Manager

Hope for Justice is looking for an experienced and ambitious Senior Philanthropy Manager to lead and grow our philanthropy activity across the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for a senior fundraiser who combines strategic thinking with a genuine love of building relationships. You'll lead the delivery of our philanthropy strategy in the UK, manage and develop the UK philanthropy team, and personally build a strong portfolio of major and principal donors and prospects.

Working closely with senior leaders, colleagues and supporters across the organisation, you'll help identify new opportunities, strengthen existing relationships and create meaningful partnerships that grow income and support Hope for Justice's mission.

Requirements

Country and Regional Philanthropy Leadership

  • Lead the delivery of the Philanthropy Strategy in UK, translating global strategy into market priorities, donor propositions, portfolio plans, income goals, and team rhythms.
  • Represent UK market opportunities, performance, risks and resourcing needs in global fundraising planning and leadership discussions.
  • Execute on annual and quarterly priorities and metrics for the country team.

People Leadership and Team Performance

  • Line manage, coach and develop the team shown in the approved organisation chart.
  • Manage role clarity, portfolio ownership, annual objectives, development plans and balanced scorecards for each specialist lane.
  • Run effective one-to-ones, portfolio reviews, pipeline reviews and team meetings; remove blockers, rebalance work and address performance promptly.
  • In partnership with the Head of Philanthropy, own the recruitment, onboarding and workload transitions in line with the phased vacancies shown in the organisation chart.

Major and Principal Donor Prospecting

  • Personally own a focused portfolio of major and principal donors and prospects, with substantial emphasis on new relationship development.
  • Build a qualified pipeline through referrals, networks, events, research, giving history, capacity indicators and relational intelligence.
  • Create and execute individual donor strategies through identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, retention and upgrading.
  • Develop donor-specific cases for support and make confident, data-informed asks for appropriate unrestricted, restricted, multi-year, planned and non-cash gifts.
  • Mobilise the CPO, Head of Philanthropy, Directors, Boards, senior leaders, programme colleagues and volunteers around priority relationships when needed.

Segmented Moves Management and Donor Experience

  • Integrate events and leads, mass, mid-level, major and principal donor pathways so every active relationship has a named owner, current stage, next action and expected date.
  • Embed consistent gratitude, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, renewal, retention, upgrading and reactivation practices.

Planning, Systems and Performance

  • Own the market income plan, phased forecast, pipeline review and performance narrative, escalating opportunities, risks and variances early.
  • Maintain strong CRM discipline, accurate relationship records, timely activity logging and compliant data handling.
  • Work with the Philanthropy Data and Project Manager as well as Finance so dashboards, definitions, forecasting and income records are consistent and decision-ready.
  • Use leading indicators monthly and lagging indicators annually to coach choices, allocate support and improve performance.

Communications, Governance and Risk

  • Adapt cases for support, proposals, events and stewardship for UK and European audiences, while maintaining relevant UK fundraising regulation, data protection, Gift Aid, charity governance and local donor expectations.
  • Maintain high standards of ethical storytelling, safeguarding, due diligence, restricted funding oversight and reputational risk management.
