As Doubtless Pet Care continues to grow, we are seeking a UK Senior Risk Manager to join our Risk team.
Package:
We offer a salary of up to £77,250 per annum, dependent on experience, 25 days holiday, life assurance, private medical insurance, and a range of employee benefits!
Location:
This is a remote role with occasional office presence in London
What you’ll get up to as our Senior Risk Manager
Sitting within the newly established UK Risk Management Function, this role focuses on underwriting and pricing risk oversight, ensuring robust risk frameworks are applied to support sustainable growth and regulatory compliance. You will act as a key advisor to underwriting and pricing teams, providing independent challenge and strategic insight into risk exposures. You'll also:
- Provide independent risk oversight, challenge and advice across underwriting, pricing and reserving activities.
- Support the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of the risk appetite framework, ensuring compliance with risk tolerances, regulatory requirements and Group standards.
- Maintain effective risk management policies and frameworks, embedding Consumer Duty principles and delivering good customer outcomes.
- Lead risk assessments and control reviews across underwriting, actuarial and pricing functions, including oversight of the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process.
- Monitor emerging risks, market developments and portfolio performance, providing effective challenge and recommendations to mitigate risk exposures.
- Partner with underwriting, actuarial, finance and compliance teams to support product development, pricing decisions and a holistic approach to risk management.
- Produce risk reporting and insights for senior management, committees, boards and regulators, including contributions to ORSA, SFCR, capital adequacy and solvency monitoring activities.
- Provide risk oversight and challenge through key governance forums, including underwriting, pricing, reserving and conduct committees.
- Promote a strong risk culture through training, awareness initiatives and the consistent application of risk management practices across the organisation.
- Support the management and oversight of financial and non-financial risks, including ESG and climate-related risks.

Essential
What we look for in you
- Recognised Risk Management qualification, Actuarial qualification and / or a recognised professional qualification e.g. ACA, ACMA, ACCA, IIA, CIP, LLP.
- Strong knowledge of insurance underwriting principles, pricing methodologies, and risk management frameworks.
- Proven experience in a senior risk role within the UK insurance market, ideally personal lines.
- Familiarity with Solvency II, FCA/PRA regulations, and risk appetite frameworks.
- Ability to apply risk appetite and tolerance to underwriting and pricing decisions.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Professional qualifications such as IRM, CII, or actuarial credentials are highly desirable.
- Experience in embedding regulatory standards into risk frameworks.
- Experience with controls improvement reviews or implementation of new frameworks relating to underwriting and pricing.
- Excellent ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders constructively.
- Skilled in presenting risk insights to boards and committees.
- Proficiency in risk systems and tools (e.g., risk registers, dashboards).
- Familiarity with actuarial software and data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, or Python for risk analysis).
