Field Service Engineer - Packaging Machinery

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a leading supplier of specialist packaging machinery.
Due to continued growth and expansion, we are looking for a motivated and skilled engineer to strengthen our service team. This is an excellent opportunity to work with industry-leading equipment, providing installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and technical support to customers across the UK.
The role offers long-term career development, ongoing training, and exposure to a wide range of packaging machinery within the cosmetic, personal care, pharmaceutical, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting customers through the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and repair of packaging machinery. You will work closely with the Service Manager and wider engineering team, ensuring excellent customer service and high technical standards at all times.
This role involves regular travel throughout the UK and occasional overseas travel. Overnight stays will typically be required 1-2 nights per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and routine servicing on customer equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control system faults
- Attending customer breakdowns and providing effective troubleshooting support
- Installing, commissioning, and setting up new machinery at customer sites
- Performing machinery modifications, upgrades, and improvements
- Providing technical support both remotely and on-site
- Identifying recurring issues and recommending preventative solutions
- Completing service reports and maintenance documentation accurately
- Supporting machinery testing and factory acceptance testing when required
- Delivering operator training and technical guidance to customers
- Working in accordance with health and safety requirements and company procedures
- Building and maintaining strong customer relationships
- Supporting equipment demonstrations alongside the sales team when required
- Representing the business professionally at all times

About You
We're looking for a hands-on engineer with strong fault-finding abilities and a customer-focused approach.
Essential Requirements
- Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
- Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge
- Experience diagnosing and repairing industrial equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel throughout the UK and stay away when required

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience servicing packaging machinery, process machinery, or automated equipment
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems and control systems
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, pharmaceutical, or packaging environments
- Previous field service engineering experience
- Ideally located within approximately 2-3 hours of Buckinghamshire

Working Hours
Monday to Friday
Standard full-time hours with flexibility required to support customer requirements and travel commitments.
