Baringa is looking for talented 2027 Summer Interns to join our Energy & Resources teams!
Our Internship
Our eight week Summer Internship Programme is designed to give you hands-on experience, meaningful responsibility, and a true insight into life at Baringa. Over the course of the programme, you’ll work alongside experienced consultants and specialists on real projects, develop valuable skills through tailored learning opportunities, and build connections across the business. Whether you’re exploring your career options or looking to kick-start your professional journey, our internship offers a supportive environment where you can learn, grow, and make an impact.

Our Energy & Resources teams:
Retail, Networks & Water
Our clients across the sector rely on our deep utilities industry experience, knowledge and insight coupled with a hands-on, pragmatic delivery approach to solve their challenges. We support our clients tackle their biggest challenges across the end to end value chain from Energy and Water supply and distribution through to end customer supporting clients with market reform, customer operations, net zero strategies in both domestic, SME and B2B and much more.
Desirable degrees: Business, Economics, Data Analytics.
Desirable skills: Problem solving, Passion, Curiosity, Good communication, Interest in Customer retail or energy and water infrastructure.

Commodities & Energy Trading
Our commodities and energy trading focused team operates across all major commodity and energy companies in Europe, the US and Singapore. From metals traders and miners, through oil majors, freight and shipping specialists to power and gas traders. Our people bring deep industry expertise to help our clients translate strategy into action, to enter new markets, build new trading capabilities, and to revolutionize their IT landscapes.

Energy Products
We turn Baringa's deep energy market expertise into trusted data, insights and software products that our clients rely on as they navigate the energy transition. Our team create the market simulations and forecasts used by investors, developers, and utilities around the world to support strategic decision-making. We combine experts covering energy markets, data science, software development, and economics to create digestible data-led insight to our clients. Depending on your background you could be working with either our market research, modelling, or communications teams.
Desirable degrees: STEM subjects, Economics, Operational Research
Desirable skills: Interest in energy markets, comfortable handling large data and extracting insight for a wide audience, presentation and storytelling skills, programming (e.g. Python, SQL), using AI (for coding, for agentic workflows), experience using numerical models/simulation, interpersonal skills
Market & Transactions
We help investors, developers, utilities, lenders and corporates make well-informed commercial decisions across the energy transition. We combine deep expertise in energy markets and infrastructure with strong commercial and transaction advisory capabilities. Our work ranges from market fundamentals analysis, power price forecasting and asset optimisation through to commercial strategy, M&A transactions, financing processes and investment due diligence. We work on some of the energy sector's most complex and high-profile challenges, helping clients deploy capital, manage risk and unlock value in rapidly evolving markets.
Successful candidates will combine analytical rigour and curiosity with a strong commercial mindset, and an interest in understanding how energy markets, investment decisions and business strategy intersect.
Desired degrees: Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Finance, Business/Management, Data Science, Statistics or Operational Research.
Desired skills:

Economics, Policy, Regulation, and Commercial
We support clients from policy development to implementation, from regulatory strategies to business case submissions, and from competition cases to expert opinion. Our economists, policy specialists, regulatory experts and techno-economic modellers work alongside governments, regulators, investors and corporates - shaping the frameworks and decisions that underpin multi-billion-pound investment across energy, utilities and wider infrastructure.

Transition, Assets & Infrastructure
Our Transition, Assets & Infrastructure team helps energy, utilities and infrastructure organisations deliver complex transformation across the full asset asset lifecycle from capital programmes, asset management, operate and maintain and decommissioning. We work with clients to develop their asset strategy, improve the performance of critical infrastructure, deliver large-scale capital investments, shape future operating models, and unlock value through technology, data and AI. Combining expertise in engineering, project delivery, operations, technology and business transformation, we help clients solve complex challenges and deliver lasting outcomes across asset-intensive industries.
Desirable degrees: STEM, Engineering, Data science.
Desirable skills: Problem solving, Curiosity & learning mindset, Strong communication skills, Analytical & structured thinking, Interest in Energy, Infrastructure & Technology.
Requirements
Applicants should be in their penultimate year of their bachelor’s or master’s Degree studies.
Applicants must have the permanent right to work in the UK now and in the future. All applicants will be asked for proof if invited to an assessment centre. Please note we’re unable to sponsor individuals for this opportunity.
