The Opportunity

Primary responsibility

  • Case worker for a designated portfolio of partners on all UK tax related issues ensuring filing obligations are satisfied, and payments made, on an accurate and timely basis.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing UK tax returns for a portfolio of partners, spouses, retired partners and consultants based in both the UK and overseas. These returns will be reviewed by one of the Managers in the team.
  • Preparing calculations to show the split of partners' tax liabilities between that relating to partnership income and that relating to personal income.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the firm’s Partnership tax returns.
  • Preparing lettings statements, both on the cash and accruals basis, to form part of the tax returns.
  • Calculating the amount partners can pay in pension contributions and advising on how the tax relief will be distributed to them by the firm.
  • Dealing with queries from partners regarding their tax affairs, including income tax planning, capital gains tax planning and non UK residence issues.
  • Responding to all correspondence from partners, HMRC and third parties in a timely manner.
  • Communicating with partners by email, Microsoft Teams, or face to face in the office.
  • Supporting managers/or conducting meetings with partners as appropriate.
  • Working, under supervision, with other sub-teams on project and other work as required.
  • Helping the team with all aspects of our work, including some administrative matters such as journal entries and maintaining various records.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • CTA qualified.
  • At least 3 years' experience in personal and/or partnership tax.
  • Experience in non UK residence issues, including advising on the UK tax issues on leaving and returning to the UK.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Good organisational skills coupled with the ability to analyse issues thoroughly and in a logical manner.
  • Confidentiality is of extreme importance.
