Role Description

The UK Tax Specialist will be responsible for preparing and reviewing UK personal and corporate tax returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC requirements and deadlines. Day-to-day tasks include analyzing client financial information, identifying applicable tax reliefs, and advising on tax-efficient strategies within current UK tax legislation. The role also involves responding to client queries, communicating complex tax issues in clear terms, and supporting the preparation of management accounts and related documentation as needed. The specialist will collaborate with the wider accounting team to maintain accurate records and support internal quality controls. This is a part-time remote role, offering flexibility in working hours while requiring consistent delivery of high-quality, compliant work.

  • Strong knowledge of UK tax legislation and HMRC compliance requirements, including experience preparing UK personal and corporate tax returns.
  • Proficiency in accounting and bookkeeping principles, with experience supporting management accounts and working with accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify tax planning opportunities.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain tax concepts to clients in a straightforward and professional manner.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, with strong organizational skills to manage multiple client deadlines in a remote environment.
  • Ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, and exercise sound professional judgment in client engagements.
  • Relevant professional qualification or progress toward qualification (e.g., ATT, CTA, ACCA, ACA) is highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a UK accounting or tax practice and familiarity with cloud-based practice management tools are an advantage.
