What you'll be doing

The Creative Project Manager plays a pivotal role in the successful delivery of creative projects, acting as the central point of coordination between internal teams, clients, and production partners. This role owns the structure, pace, and clarity of project delivery, ensuring briefs are clearly defined, workflows are effectively managed, and creative outcomes are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned to commercial expectations. The ideal candidate will bring strong organizational discipline, confident communication, and a proactive approach to balancing creative ambition with operational and commercial realities.

Core Accountability

The Creative Project Manager is accountable for:

  • The successful operational delivery of creative projects from briefing through completion.
  • The accuracy and integrity of project plans, schedules, and resource forecasts.
  • Clear communication and alignment across Creative, Production, Technical Production, and Client Services.
  • Early identification, management, and escalation of risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Maintaining client confidence through organized, proactive, and transparent project management.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered within agreed scope, timelines, and budget parameters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the successful operational management of creative projects from briefing through to delivery.
  • Drive clear project planning, workflow management, resourcing, and timeline control to support high-quality creative delivery.
  • Lead cross-functional alignment between Creative, Production, Technical Production, and Client Services, ensuring clear communication, ownership, and handovers.
  • Establish effective project governance, including plans, schedules, decision logs, action trackers, reporting mechanisms, and change-control processes.
  • Govern project commercials through accurate cost tracking, utilisation monitoring, forecasting, and proactive management of scope changes.
  • Protect project delivery by identifying risks, issues, dependencies, and production constraints early, escalating where required, and driving resolution.
  • Champion the use of project management tools, technologies, and workflows that improve team efficiency, communication, and scalability.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing delivery culture across internal and external project teams.

Key Deliverables

  • Detailed project plans, schedules, and milestone trackers.
  • Clearly defined scopes, priorities, ownership, and responsibilities.
  • Resource plans aligned with team capacity and project delivery requirements.
  • Meeting agendas, action logs, decision records, and stakeholder updates.
  • Creative review and client presentation coordination.
  • Risk, issue, dependency, and change-control logs.
  • Accurate utilisation, timesheet, budget, and commercial reporting.
  • Documented scope changes and impact assessments.
  • Complete, centrally stored project documentation.
  • Post-project reviews, lessons-learned reports, and recommendations to improve workflow, efficiency, and delivery quality.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Own the end-to-end creative project lifecycle, from initial scoping and scheduling through to delivery and post-project review.
  • Ensure comprehensive, clearly agreed briefs are in place before work is allocated to the Creative team.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary creative teams across 2D design, 3D design, artworking, copy, digital, and strategy, ensuring outputs are aligned and effectively integrated.
  • Lead regular internal check-ins, creative reviews, and client presentations to maintain momentum, clarity, and ownership of deliverables.
  • Work closely with Creative Project Director and Client Services to ensure creative ambition aligns with client expectations, operational feasibility, and commercial parameters.
  • Partner with Production and Graphic Production Managers to align timelines, budgets, deliverables, and dependencies.
  • Protect project delivery by identifying and escalating production constraints, risks, and dependencies early, working with internal teams to resolve issues before they impact outcomes.
  • Scope and budget projects in collaboration with the Creative Project Director, ensuring accurate forecasting of resource usage, time allocation, and potential variance.
  • Track and manage project budgets, flagging scope creep, monitoring utilisation, and identifying opportunities for efficiency.
  • Support the development of commercially sound proposals and timelines that protect client needs, internal capacity, and delivery quality.
  • Act as a consistent point of contact for creative project-related matters, ensuring timely, clear, and solutions-focused communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including scopes, schedules, resource plans, status reports, decision records, and post-project reviews.
  • Establish and maintain project governance frameworks, including action trackers, reporting mechanisms, and change-control processes.
  • Ensure all project dependencies, assumptions, and risks are documented, monitored, and actively managed throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive accountability across project teams by ensuring actions are assigned, tracked, and completed within agreed deadlines.

Decision Authority

  • Prioritise project activities within agreed project scope and timelines.
  • Recommend resource requirements and allocation adjustments.
  • Escalate risks, scope changes, and commercial impacts where approval is required.
  • Approve project schedules, internal milestones, and delivery plans.
  • Determine appropriate project governance, reporting, and communication structures.

Success Measures

  • Projects delivered on time and within agreed scope.
  • Resource plans accurately reflect delivery requirements.
  • Risks and issues are identified and escalated early.
  • Stakeholders receive timely, accurate, and actionable project updates.
  • Project documentation is complete, current, and accessible.

Skills / Experience

  • Degree in Project Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Familiarity with tools like Monday.com, Asana, Smartsheet, or similar project platforms.
  • Proven experience in creative project management within a fast-paced agency or similar environment.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary creative teams.
  • Solid understanding of creative and production workflows.
  • Comfortable working with budgets, scopes, and resource planning.
