We are currently seeking an individual to join the Tax team as UK VAT Accounting Manager.

Tax has overall responsibility for the Group's worldwide tax affairs. As trusted partners of our global businesses and Functions, the Tax team adds value through general tax advice, the identification of key tax issues and the creation of workable and insightful solutions – in all cases, adhering to the spirit and letter of the law. Tax effectively manages tax risk through strong control and governance and having a talented and engaged global tax team who lead with integrity.

This is a newly created role within the VAT team to enhance controls and governance around VAT accounting processes.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Establishing best in class processes around transactional and consolidating VAT account reconciliations, reviews and ownership, and ensuring implementation of these via direct support of individuals and periodic testing
  • Advising lines of business on VAT accounting best practices, in conjunction with VAT advisory colleagues
  • Supporting on enhancing VAT compliance processes, working with outsourced service providers
  • Managing escalation of VAT accounting issues if any arise
  • Owning appropriate VAT accounts (including performing ownership responsibilities under the supervision of a VAT Senior Manager)
  • Working on other projects with interactions with VAT accounting – for example, new product reporting and UK e-invoicing – and supporting the UK VAT advisory team as required

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Experience with VAT accounting / reconciliations / VAT compliance processes, preferably within a business or organisation operating a partial exemption special method
  • Experience developing and implementing standardised processes, for others to follow and apply in practice
  • Effective stakeholder management including with senior individuals
  • Confident at managing issues and escalations appropriately
  • VAT advisory experience is helpful but not essential
